Prism Go-Ahead Welcomed by Chamber

Welcoming today’s granting of planning permission for the 15-story Prism by An Board Pleanála, Thomas McHugh, Director of Public Affairs at Cork Chamber, said:

“The Prism building is inspired by the iconic Flatiron in New York and will be a feature itself on the
Cork skyline, being a defining, visionary and architecturally iconic addition to our City.”

“This building is a pillar project, linking the City centre to the docklands, and symbolises the ambition we have for Cork city itself as an exciting, modern and internationally attractive business destination.”

“Under Project Ireland 2040, a key focus of State policy is to optimise our urban footprint, avoid sprawl, and to support sustainable transport, active commuting and a healthy thriving Ireland. To this end, we are pleased to see yet another office development being planned right next to Cork’s primary bus and railway hub in support of sustainable commuting for the 600 people who will soon be working in the Prism building creating economic value on a previously derelict site.”

"It is essential that our planning process continues to facilitate and encourage architectural statements that are bold and visionary, sparking civic pride and conversation about the future direction of our City Region” he concluded.
