‘Wonder Woman’ Runs for her life!
Run the Cork City Marathon to support the work of ICU at Cork University Hospital
CUH Charity want you on their team! Run, walk or jog The Irish Examiner Cork City Marathon to raise much needed funds for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Cork University Hospital. On Sunday 3rd June, runners from all over the world will take to the streets of Cork to run the Cork City Marathon.
Dolores Duffy, a well-known Cork elite marathon runner, joined the ICU team and CUH Charity to highlight the work of the ICU Department in CUH. Dolores is hoping to break the Guinness World Record for running ‘fastest female marathon in a film costume’ in her ‘Wonder Woman’ costume, while raising vital funds for the Intensive Care Unit and CUH Charity. Dolores is launching the ‘Run for ICU at CUH’ to encourage all runners, particularly relay runners, or runners who would like to do the full or half marathon and sign up to do the Cork City Marathon to support the ICU Unit at the hospital. This will be Dolores’s 65th marathon!
Dr Dorothy Breen said ‘It is such a privilege to be part of an amazing team in ICU at CUH. We are encouraging all our friends, family, colleagues and members of the public to run the Cork City Marathon in aid of the work of the Intensive Care Unit in CUH and raise funds for vital equipment. We are always so grateful for the great support of our patients and the public towards our work and are looking forward to seeing all you runners, but in particular relay runners out there on Sunday 3rd June!’
Miriam Forde, Head of CUH Charity said ‘We are delighted that Dolores joined us today to highlight the great work of the ICU team at CUH to encourage everyone who can run or jog to join us on the 3rd June! Sign up today to be part of the ‘Run for ICU at CUH’ team to ensure your place before the entry deadline in May. Funds raised from the marathon will go towards purchasing new and essential equipment for ICU, which will have a positive and lasting impact for patients in CUH’.
