News that a national Land Development Agency has been established to increase the viability of several sites key to the future transformation of Cork City Region has today been welcomed by Cork Chamber.
Thomas Mc Hugh, Director of Public Affairs at Cork Chamber, said:
“Since the launch of Ireland 2040 we have had the announcement of the Urban and Rural Regeneration Funds which will be helpful to increase the attractiveness of specific sites in the City Region.”
“The further announcement of a new Land Development Agency will improve the viability of strategic urban landbanks such as our North and South Docklands and Tivoli. This is a key step in realising the vision of Cork as a high-density and vibrant second city region.”
“That said, Government must continue to be responsive to market conditions beyond specific sites. Delivery and viability across the sector must be key considerations for all Government departments. Speed of delivery in areas such as brownfield rental apartments is critical to the economy and attraction and retention of international talent” he concluded.
