Sustainable Weddings Wedding couples now have more of a focus on sustainability. Disposable favours are becoming a thing of the past with many opting for a charitable donation instead. Expect to see more plant based or vegan options on the menu and many will also embrace a digital invite or a one piece impactful invite on recycled paper.
Civil Ceremonies More couples are opting for humanist or civil ceremonies and Vienna Woods has seen an increase in couples who want to host both their ceremony and celebration at the hotel.
Fresh, Local, Seasonal Couples are looking for local and fresh produce on their wedding menu. The provenance of food is becoming more and more important. Cork’s Vienna Woods, as a member of Guaranteed Irish, is committed to providing quality fresh and locally sourced ingredients; all suppliers are local or Irish, and include O’ Connell Meats and Good Fish and McCarthy Meats based in County Cork.
Instagram moments Modern couples care deeply about the aesthetic of their special day, and love to capture all the little details in a visual way. Instammable moments are a must. Cakes are becoming more impactful and showcase a couple’s personality, wedding locations are sought out for their Instagram appeal and generally couples will spend more on photography to ensure they get the right look and feel.
Personalisation Many aspects of the wedding day are becoming more personalised from inscriptions on bridal party gifts to embroidered accessories, through to the décor. Couples want to show their personality and themes are becoming more about showcasing who the couple are rather than a matching colour scheme.
Bridal trends This year we will see more embroidered wedding dresses, dresses with sleeves and non-traditional bridal attire such as jumpsuits, separates, suits and coloured dresses.
The year of the rose With couples favouring a romantic look, 2020 is expected to be the year of the rose.
Gender mixed wedding parties The rulebook is out the window when it comes to wedding parties. Couple are choosing to have the people closest to them by their side regardless of gender. Vienna Woods hotel has already welcomed some fabulous Best Women and Brides-men in 2019!
Quirky Afters Food While it is hard to beat a selection of hot food and sandwiches to keep guests energised, many couples are now opting for late night pizza slice bars and donut walls as the evening food options!
