JCI Cork to host 2017 National Convention
Junior Chamber International Cork (JCI Cork) will be hosting JCI Ireland’s 2017 National Convention in the Clayton Hotel, Lapps Quay, Cork from October 13th to 15th, 2017.
JCI is a global leadership development and community organisation made up of volunteers from different professional backgrounds in their 20s and 30s. JCI gives members a chance to expand their business networks, improve their personal development and become more involved in their communities.
The Convention will see a gathering of JCI members from at home and abroad who will descend on Cork for the weekend's activities. The convention will open on Friday 13th October with the JCI National Friendly Business Awards, which will celebrate and acknowledge friendly businesses from all over Ireland. The second day of the Convention will focus on the personal and professional development of delegates and will also host the Tripartite Cup, which is a debating competition between Ireland, Scotland and the UK.
The weekend culminates with the Gala Dinner which will take place on the Saturday night where Cork's own Sinead Kane will address the audience as key-note speaker. Sinead became the first visually impaired athlete to complete seven marathons, in seven days, on seven continents. Earlier this year, Sinéad was recognised as one of JCI Cork’s Munster Outstanding Young People, she then went on to be recognised by JCI Ireland as one of the 2017 Ten Outstanding Young People.
As a community based organisation, JCI works to support many charities and Cork Simon Community has been chosen as the charity partner for this year's convention. We as young Active Citizens endeavour to do our bit to make an impact in the urgent community challenge of homlessness.
Junior Chambers Ireland was established in 1957 in the South Mall so 2017 is a special year for JCI Cork as it will be marking the 60th Anniversary of JCI in Ireland.
Carol O'Donovan, President of JCI Cork said "This is a major event in the history of JCI Cork and we are delighted that the 60th year of JCI in Ireland will be celebrated at National Convention in Cork. Cork’s fantastic community has been a great support to this event and JCI Cork would like to thank all our sponsors and supporters, especially The Port of Cork and the Clayton Hotel on Lapps Quay. "
Anticipation is building for this event and JCI Cork would like to thank the fantastic community who have been a great support, namely The Port of Cork (where our team building takes place) and the Clayton Hotel Cork City. Tickets are still available for the weekend's activities and Gala Ball and we would encourage all to get involved in this historical and inspirational event.
