Cork Local Authorities shortlisted in Excellence in Local Government Awards 2017

Cork Chamber is delighted to see the successful shortlisting of Cork City and County Council’s across a range of categories in advance of the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2017 due to be held this coming November. The shortlist announced by Chambers Ireland sees a total of twenty three Local Authorities being listed over sixteen categories ranging from Active Communities to Local Authority Innovation.
 
Conor Healy, CEO, Cork Chamber, in welcoming the announcement stated, “We are delighted to see the efforts of our Cork Local Authorities being recognised at national level with the shortlist selection reflecting the best practice work being undertaken by Local Authorities right across the country. Cork County Council and Cork City Council have successfully been shortlisted multiple times for projects such as The Living Space Project Mallow, Dunmanway Community Garden, the Greening of Glow and the Hollyhill Library services for children with autism, recognising the diversity of projects and initiatives being undertaken.”
 
In concluding, Mr. Healy added, “The awards are instrumental in recognising the hard work and dedication of our Local Authorities which is intrinsic to enabling, facilitating and creating local initiatives that support our communities and it is fantastic to see the Cork Local Authorities being recognised across such a broad range of categories. We wish the teams at Cork County and Cork City Council’s all the success in the final announcement at the awards ceremony in November. ”
 
The winners will be announced at the 14th annual awards ceremony on 23rd November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood, Santry.   The awards will be presented for excellence in sixteen different categories and one local authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year 2017.
